Peggy Townsend

Peggy Townsend has spent most of her adult life as a newspaper reporter, mostly for the Santa Cruz Sentinel, covering everything from homeless teen-agers to the inequalities of health care. She has won two statewide “Best Writing” awards from the California Newspaper Publishers Association and multiple “Best Feature” awards from the Associated Press News Executives Council and the California Newspaper Publisher’s Association. She was a 2005-06 racial justice fellow at the USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism, and currently writes for the UC Santa Cruz magazine and website. She lives with her husband in Santa Cruz and Lake Tahoe.
